Running
Running is one of the most efficient forms of exercise in which one can participate and possibly one of the most addictive. The only barrier to running is, hmmmm...I can't think of one. So, to get started you need a decent pair of running shoes ($50- $70) (I've run in cross trainers before). If you are not in terribly good shape, start off walking. Then as you get use to movement, start jogging or actually a combination of walk/jog. Your body will have to adjust to the new jarring sensation of running and you may experience some discomfort at first. I know that even I did when I switched from skating to jogging (coming back from a hamstring injury, bummer). After a short period of time our bodies get used to it and then the boundaries are ours to set. Good luck and start jogging.

Weight
Excess weight and obesity are probably the biggest health risks facing, certainly Americans, but also much of the world. We eat so much garbage and get so little exercise though that it is no wonder. The number one reason for being over weight is inactivity, PERIOD. We go from our homes, get into our cars, get out of the cars, go into the office where we sit all day, then get into our cars, go home and sit it front of the TV and that level of activity does not make Jack a fit boy nor Jane a fit girl. Do anything, anything at all that is fun, safe and increases your activity level. Walk, run, jump, bike, skate, dance (even if it is just around your apartment to your favorite CD's)(better if you have a walkman), just go out and play, something, anything. Capish?

Strength
Strength means many things to many people. To some it means; How much one can lift. To another it can mean how far one can throw. To yet others, it can mean focus and will. To me strength is a combination of power, agility and coordination, and endurance all of which take discipline and determination. As we become stronger, our performance in every aspect of our lives becomes better. Reflexes and faster control of movement becomes easier, etc. If we focus on developing our power, agility and coordination we will have a very well rounded fitness program. Now, get up and start exercising. ;-)

Sports
I love and participate in all facets of sports, when I have the time. Sports for the general public are recreational activities. Approach sports as the fun that they are meant to be. Most sporting injuries occur when we are re-living our past thinking the body is still in the shape that it once was (it can get back into that shape). We throw too hard or run too fast or we just over do it and either get really sore or injured. Remember, professional athletes train 3-6 hours per day in order to participate at the level they do in their sport of choice. Their training includes stretching, running, lifting, and drills. Which ever sport you are participating in, be sure to warm-up first and stretch and most of all have fun!

Fitness
Fitness is one of the easiest, most achievable goals of man (human). All that it takes are the Four D's. Decision, Determination, Discipline, Dedication.

Decision - Through out our lives we are always faced with forks in the road. For every behavior, whether the behavior is good or bad, everyone makes the initial decision to participate. We can take this job or that one, we can either get married or stay single, we can either stay in a relationship or move on, we can either get fit or go the other direction. Whether it be jogging, push-ups and sit-ups after work, getting on that exercise bike, picking up the Trainernyc fitness band, grabbing that beer, eating the pint of Haggen Daas (Vanilla Swiss Almond) ice cream, firing up that cigarette, doing drugs or shop lifting, robbing people, I could go on and on. The question that you need to ask yourself is: Is this behavior in keeping with my current goals and objectives? If it is, do it. If it isn't, don't. Once we have made our decision and with you visiting this website, then I am assuming that you have made a decision to pursue the path of fitness. Good choice! It is not hard to become fit. Remember you have to be willing to pay the ramifications of your behavior!!!

Determination - Setting your goals and objectives and not letting any obstacles get in your way or set you back (at least not for long). Remain focused on your path and push harder and harder until you achieve your goals.

Discipline - The ability to consistently working through your exercise regime time and time again, for better or worse, sickness and health till death do us part (sorry I lost my head there for a minute) even in the face of distractions. Whether it be fatigue, a TV show, a phone calls, a busy schedule or even if you just don't feel like it, nothing should stop you from achieving your goals and objectives. Keep up the Good work!

Dedication - Sticking with your program in spite of all of the distractions around you ie: TV shows, parties and offers to do other things, etc. Making your fitness regime a priority above those other things and letting the success realized and your potential drive you toward your goals.
